Robert Parker-Wine Advocate
Disgorged last year, Olivier Collin's superb NV Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Les Pierrières (2014) wafts from the glass with aromas of smoky citrus oil, crushed rocks, white flowers and a subtle top note of blanched almonds. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, tensile and searingly intense, with a vinous but tight-knit profile, superb concentration and depth at the core and a long, racy and undeniably mineral finish. I have already worked my way through half a case of this wine from my own cellar, and it continues to blossom and unwind with each month on cork. The 2014 base isn't as reserved and introverted as some vintages of Pierrières, and its purity and precision are already easy to appreciate.
